Frequently asked questions
How is GPA calculated on this scale?
On this scale, each course’s grade converts to grade points (an HD is 7 on the 7.0 scale). Your GPA is the credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s points by its units, add them up, and divide by your total units. Syllabase does this automatically for every course you track.
What percentage is an HD?
On the scale Syllabase uses, 85% or higher is an HD, worth 7 grade points.
What’s the lowest passing grade?
P (50% and up, 4 grade points) is the lowest passing band on this scale. Some programs require higher grades, so check your program’s rules.
Is this the official calculator?
No. It uses the grading scale Syllabase applies, which is based on published grading policies. Your registrar’s rules (repeated courses, pass/fail, transfer credit) always win.
